Montgomery “Strikers” Qualify for Eastern District Finals

The Montgomery Soccer Club would like to congratulate the boys U12 soccer team for their accomplishement.

The Montgomery Soccer Club, U12 team boys team, known unofficially as the “Strikers”, started off the season with an undefeated 5-game qualification round. During the second 5-game round they were paired against the tougher regional teams and achieved a fantastic 3 wins and 2 ties record, qualifying them for the Finals. The “Strikers” will be travelling to Brenham to play on December 3rd and 4th.

Players in alphabetical order are: Victor Aguilar, Walter Avila Jr., Luke Coleman, Horace Davis, Ryan Flood, Christopher Hymel, Alexander Keller, Nicolas Lorant, Tyler Mattfeld, Lucas McCaleb, Tyler Moore, Elliot Sims, Bryson Thurston.

Ryan Welch and Corinne Easter have been named the TYSA Youth Referees of the Year. Ryan represents the Cy-Fair Youth Soccer Club and Corinne hails from the Montgomery Soccer Club.



ICE - Tournament Champions
August 26th, 2010


August 22, 2010 - The Montgomery Soccer Club U18 Super 2 Division ladies team, Montgomery ICE, won the 2010 Rush Cup tournament at Bear Creek park in Houston over the weekend. Montgomery ICE pulled together and fought like lions to prevail against some of STYSA’s more prestigious Super 2 and Division 1 teams. After making their way past talented teams within their bracket, Montgomery ICE defeated Houston Pride’s 93G ladies in the Championship round. A 0-0 tie after two halves, Montgomery ICE solidified their Championship win in a Penalty Kick round resulting in 5 goals for Montgomery ICE, and 4 goals for Houston Pride. According to the tournament officials, many might have considered this a huge tournament upset. But not so much for Montgomery ICE, for considering the talent and determination of these young ladies and their superior training program this may only be a stepping stone to the start of a very successful and fun season. The team is led by coaches John Ford and Rob Duplantis and trained by Topper Cogan who is also an assistant coach of the Sam Houston ladies soccer team.

Although newcomers to Timberline Soccer League (TYSA) and South Texas Youth Soccer Association (STYSA), Montgomery Soccer Club is becoming recognized as a very competitive soccer organization who strive at serving the youth in their surrounding community with a quality soccer program. The Montgomery Soccer Club continues to draw strong talent from the area, provide top notch professional training, and has strengthened its competitive league since it joined TYSA and STYSA a little over 2 years ago. The Montgomery Soccer Club looks forward to more success from the teams of their young soccer club this season and for years to come.

Soccer Club Elections

Dear Participants of Montgomery Soccer Club,

The Montgomery Soccer Club Board of Directors will be holding its annual board elections on May 13, 2010, 7:00pm. If you are interested in running for a position, please respond no later than April 30, 8:00pm.

The positions available are:

President, Secretary, Treasurer, Director of Marketing, Director of Recreational Coaches, Director of Fields, Director of Technology. These positions are voluntary positions; however, the individuals responsible for these positions will maintain the positive strength, commitment and duties to provide the educational and opportunistic means of soccer for the children of Montgomery and surrounding communities. We encourage everyone to participate and offer some assistance to help build our soccer program and support our players.

To be eligible to run for a board position, the interested person must:
  1. Be a minimum of 18 years of old,
  2. Not be under suspension or other disciplinary action by MSC, TYSA, STYSA or any other governing associations,
  3. Be in possession of a "Kid Safe" card or obtain a card prior to taking office,
  4. Not serve on the board of any other soccer clubs or leagues.
All board positions are to run for a period of two years.

Montgomery Soccer Club is holding a meeting with the parents of all boy and girl soccer players that are planning to register for a Fall 2010 U11 or U12 team. The purpose of the meeting is to explain Montgomery Soccer Club’s Divisions 1, 2, and 3 Competitive league. If you already know that you are interested in having your young player tryout for a Fall 2010 Competitive team, or if you are curious as to what the Competitive league is all about, then this meeting is for you!

Some of the items to be discussed are:

  • Explain costs for Fall and Spring Competitive seasons
  • Explain the structure of Div 3, Div 2, Super 2, and Qualifying Competitive divisions
  • Travel expectations to ‘away’ games
  • Opportunities for Fundraisers to subsidize parent costs
  • Discussion of the expected level of commitment from players and parents at the Competitive level.

Montgomery Jr. Academy Fall 2009

The Academy is a fun, skill based program geared for the Recreational Soccer player who is looking for additional training in a group format by professional trainers. Montgomery Soccer Club is now offering these training sessions to U8, U9 and U10 boys and girls. This program is designed to provide your player with the necessary technical skills to enhance their level of play.

Each player will participate in one training session each week for 10 weeks. Our professional trainers will follow a technical skill based curriculum and provide you with player evaluations so you can follow your child’s progress through-out the program. Each player will also receive a practice tee-shirt to wear on training days. The cost of the 10 week program is $60.00. Due to the weather, all games scheduled March 28 at the Montgomery fields (Montgomery High School and Montgomery Intermediate School) have been cancelled. The fields have incurred a considerable amount of rain and standing water. Please check for updated schedules to be posted Tuesday March 31st. as we will double up games to maintain the current season schedule.

Games Cancelled For This Weekend

Due to the area’s recovery from Hurricane Ike, games for the weekend of September 20th, the start of the Fall Recreational Season, have been cancelled and will be rescheduled. We wish everyone well with their recovery efforts and look forward to starting the season on September 27th.

Fall Season Is Beginning

First games will begin September 20, 2008. We have had to move the start date back a week in order to finalize teams. We have had such a great response! Thank you all.

A Coaches Meeting will be held on September 7, 2008 at Cedar Brake Part at 1:00 P.M. Following the Coaches Meeting we will hold an In-House Training Session for all new coaches. FALL REGISTRATION IS OPEN

The 2008 Fall Season is set to start on the weekend of September 13th with practices beginning the 1st week of September. Recreational league practice fields will be located at various schools in Montgomery ISD and local parks. Coaches will determine the practice location. Coed teams will be formed by school, neighborhood, or church. If you would like to form your own team, please contact registrar@montgomerysoccerclub.org for age/roster size specifics.

Montgomery Coaching Clinics Available
July 28th, 2008
As required by South Texas Youth Soccer Association, all coaches must complete and age appropriate coaching course within their first year of coaching. To help prepare our coaches, Montgomery Soccer Club will host the following coaching courses at Montgomery High School:

“E” License Course – August 8-10th (18 hour Course – USSF License).

The license provides instruction in intermediate coaching and teaching methodology for those coaching ages 9 and up. The State Director of Coaching, Mike Parsons, will waive the required U10/U12 Module (8 Hour course) for all participants of this license course.

U6/U8 Module- August 25-26th (5 Hour Course – USSF License).

The Youth Modules are designed to provide the most current and advanced information for the growth and development of the U6 through U12 youth player. The ultimate goal is to provide coaches with the tools to 'unlock the game within each child' and reach his or her full soccer potential. The modules will show coaches developmentally appropriate activities for children and the use of games as a vehicle to learning.
